Velocity Factor was founded in 2002 by Felipe Ramirez after working in various sectors of the automotive industry. Since then, the Velocity Factor team has worked hard to provide quality service, competitive pricing, and expert advice to all of our customers.
We are more than just a bolt-on shop. We have installation experience with entire motor builds and swaps, turbo and supercharger systems, and performance coilover and spring suspension. This quality service is extended to not only the numerous professional athletes and celebrities whom we have helped over the years, but to all of our customers.
Our philosophy for performance vehicles extends beyond simply achieving max horsepower. We believe that reliability, safety, and drivability are all equally as important. With this in mind, all of our custom tuned engines produce impressive power while still remaining safe and reliable enough for every day driving or grueling endurance racing. In addition to increasing engine power, we also specialize in improving drivability and handling with custom suspension installation and dial-in.

very accurate suggestions, i have a mazdaspeed 3 great car and looking to trade in for genesis coupe i feel vendors are leaning more towards it and has a bigger selection of after market parts, only issue i see is the weight on the genesis being 400 lbs more then the mazda. im looking for more of a quick off the line car and course racing drag was fun but im passed that. tell me what you think, thanks
First, I’d like to say thank you for your interest in our blog. I’m glad that you are finding it useful.
Regarding the choice between the MazdaSpeed3 and the Genesis Coupe, you are right, it is a hard choice. As far as availability of aftermarket components, the MazdaSpeed3 wins that hands down. The platform has been around much longer, and there is definitely more support for it than there is for the Hyundai Genesis Coupe. There are definitely more bolt-on and tuning options out there for the Speed3 platform. That being said, the Genesis Coupe still has many options available. Especially considering that the platform has only been in existence for a couple years, the availability of options is impressive.
One thing that the Genesis Coupe has going for it over the MazdaSpeed3 is that it is rear wheel drive. If you are looking to get into road course racing or auto-cross, that will be very advantageous.
The weight is an issue. As always, lower weight is better. There are things that can be done to reduce weight in the interest of performance, however that can only be taken so far before it becomes impractical for every-day driving. The best way to overcome that is to add more power. The MazdaSpeed3 engine has more potential for power than the Genesis Coupe, but being Front Wheel Drive, it is more challenging to get that power down onto the road where it really matters.
At the end of the day, both the MazdaSpeed3 and the Hyundai Genesis Coupe are really great cars. You will have a lot of fun and enjoyment with either of them. One thing that I can suggest if you are truly serious about getting a Genesis Coupe is to wait until the 2013 models come out. The 2013 Genesis Coupe will be a totally different animal from what is available now. Even if you are not looking to get a new car, the existing Genesis Coupes that are on the road now will most likely fall in price as soon as the new ones come out. That way you will be able to get much more bang for your buck if you wait a little bit.
The other thing that I would recommend, if you haven’t done so already, is to read through our write-ups that we have done for both the Hyundai Genesis Coupe and the MazdaSpeed3. We have a lot of experience working on both cars, and we have shared what we know in those articles. I think you will find them informative. Here are the links:

Tito I have a speed 3 just like yours same color and everything. When I went car shopping my mind was set on the Genesis the car looks great and seems fun to drive but after testing driving both the genesis and the Ms3.I went with the best choice which was the speed 3, Power and torque wise the speed 3 kills the genesis. I must agree that genesis has the advantage of being RWD but to my opinion the speed 3 handled much better, I test drove both around the back of the dealer on an abandoned road with some sharp turns and I must say the way the speed 3 respond coming out of a corner was better then the genesis.I have beaten 4 fully bolted Genesis with my fairly stock Ms3..So if your not affraid of some torque steer and want to be in a fast wagon then stick to your speed 3.And if you want to do some drifting and off the hole races then get a Genesis. At the end its all on your taste and what your plans for the car is, Im very happy with my Ms3 and can’t wait till shes fully bolted. BTW thats a good looking speed 3 you got there lol
